Independent Living Program (ILP)

The Heart Matters FFA The Independent Living Program (ILP) assists foster youth between the ages of 16 and 20 1/2 achieve self-sufficiency prior to exiting the foster care system.

ILP services are provided to youth in care honoring the Foster Youth Bill of Rights. Transition planning will consider the youth’s needs, wishes, and goals. Supportive services encompass a broad range of services, meaningful discussions, and active involvement by the youth and their Child and Family Team to help youth become prepared to successfully live interdependently in the community as young adults.

Our 13-week program is designed to help youth successfully integrate into adulthood by utilizing highly trained facilitators which provide training for youth in the following areas:

 


     Daily living skills
    Educational resources
    Assistance with applications for student aid
    Employment preparation
    Housing resources
    Money management
    Decision making
    Building self-esteem
    Support and advocacy
